Faith Kids and Camp Faith Offer Fun Volunteer Opportunities

Would you like to make a positive difference in the lives of those in our community? Do you enjoy being a role model and support system for children? Are you at least 18 years old?

If you answered “yes” to these three questions, the Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH) Child and Family Bereavement Program has immediate opportunities, open to the public, to volunteer to assist with Faith Kids and Camp Faith.

FPH’s Child and Family Bereavement Program provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can express themselves through art, therapeutic music, writing, dramatic and physical play in the Child Bereavement Center on the FPH campus. Volunteers will assist the facilitators in group activities and give support to children, teens and/or their caregivers, who are grieving the death of a loved one.

While each participant has experienced a significant loss, these meetings are filled with joy. During each session, volunteers will encounter mostly laughter, smiles, singing, creativity, silliness and a lot of energy as each gathering is intended to be a fun and uplifting experience. This program (serving ages 3-18) is not counseling or therapy, however volunteers must be comfortable with providing empathetic listening and appropriate emotional support (as needed) to the participants.

Below are the current volunteer opportunities:

  • Faith Kids: Ongoing Monthly Support Group: Meets the second Thursday of each month |volunteers needed from 6-9 p.m. (a 9-month commitment is requested to provide continuity for the children) **Faith Kids does not meet during the month of December due to camp.**
  • Camp Faith: Saturday, December 3 |volunteers needed from 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (one-time commitment)
