A Triumph of Compassion: 2023 Each Moment Matters Luncheon Post date September 13, 2023 In the 14th annual Each Moment Matters Luncheon (EMM), Pamela Busbee and Patti Flowers gracefully assumed the roles of Co-Chairs and Chris Lawrence, the distinguished co-anchor of WFAA evening news, took the helm as the master of ceremonies. Together, they orchestrated a symphony of compassion and generosity as more than 500 guests entered the Chantilly Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole on September 12, 2023. EMM raises funds for the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Caring Fund (The Caring Fund) which plays a pivotal role in underwriting benevolent care for patients without financial means, nurturing children through bereavement services and championing specialized programs collectively known as the “Faith Difference.” These programs encompass diverse forms of therapies including music, massage and the soothing companionship of pet therapy. A touching and heartfelt moment unfolded when Sarina, a resilient 9-year-old, and her father, Nipun Desai, graced the luncheon stage with their presence. They tenderly conveyed their appreciation for the unwavering support Sarina has received throughout the past two years since her mother’s death. The keynote speaker for the 2023 Each Moment Matters Luncheon, Jason B. Rosenthal, did not disappoint. Jason is best known for his role as the central figure in an essay penned by his late wife, Amy Krouse Rosenthal, titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband.” This poignant essay resonated deeply with readers when it appeared in the New York Times’ “Modern Love” column, a mere ten days before Amy’s heart-wrenching death. In her eloquent essay, Amy urged her beloved husband to seek happiness in the wake of her imminent absence. Jason shared a message outlining his emotional journey and profound insights into mortality, bereavement and the excruciating ache of losing a soulmate and he praised the role hospice played throughout this chapter of his life. Jason also offered thoughts on making a new start and pursuing happiness, hope and even joy after loss, all while honoring his late wife in the process. During the luncheon, seven remarkable individuals whose impactful service contributions have enriched the greater Dallas community, were celebrated. The 2023 EMM honorees included: Jill Bach, Business Jet Center & Business Jet Cares, Marlene Casco, Dr. Joan Buchanan Hill, Sarah Losinger, Alvaro Montoya and Cathy and Bill Davis. This efforts from this event raised more than $500,000 for The Caring Fund. Learn more about the mission of the luncheon and how you can help support it, here. ← Older Posts Newer Posts →
