Let the Games Begin: Wellness University 2024

Presbyterian Village North (PVN) launched its thirteenth annual Wellness University program on Monday, July 8, in McGowan Auditorium. During the next nine weeks, PVN residents are invited to engage in various activities, outings and presentations that explore the five dimensions of wellness: physical, social, intellectual/vocational, spiritual/emotional and environmental. Wellness University offers an elevated version of typical activities available to residents during the rest of the year. This year’s Wellness University, planned and organized by PVN’s remarkable Wellness, Spiritual and Community Life teams, is inspired by the centenary celebration of the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, and the upcoming Summer Olympic games. To match the theme, each dimension of wellness is represented by a different color of the Olympic rings.

The event began with an exciting torch lighting ceremony, followed by an overview of the various programs. Residents received copies of the impressive Wellness University handbook, outlining the robust programming in detail. Those who participate in twenty or more activities will be invited to attend a celebratory luncheon at the end of August, also marking the conclusion of the program. As a very special tribute, PVN Director of Wellness, Shannon Radford, was recognized for launching this program thirteen years ago. The kick-off set a spirited tone for what promises to be a rewarding journey for everyone involved.
