Remembering T. Boone Pickens Post date September 18, 2019 Like many throughout North Texas, we were deeply saddened by the recent passing of T. Boone Pickens. The oil and energy magnate may have earned his wealth and reputation in business, but it was his generosity and philanthropy that will truly be his lasting legacy. Countless projects throughout Dallas, North Texas and beyond carry his name or fingerprints, many focused on the underprivileged or underserved in our communities. Of course, the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center proudly bears his name, and it was his donation of more than $18 million that allowed us to open our doors in 2017. It was an honor to have the opportunity to care for and support him during his final days, as Tim Mallad, CEO of Presbyterian Communities and Services, shared with FOX 4 News recently. “We were very privileged to be with him in these last days; our teammates were there with him. I can’t tell you what a privilege in general it is to be with someone in that time of life, but somebody who was the inspiration for something like this campus and this center — I think it takes it to a whole different level.” For additional insight into the incredible life of T. Boone Pickens and the impact he made — and continues to make — on families and communities throughout Dallas, see these stories courtesy of KDFW FOX 4 News and WFAA 8 ABC. ← Older Posts Newer Posts →
